June/July 2026 Newsletter

Rides • Nutrition • Fundraising • Team News • Contributions • Birthdays • New Riders • Chino • Events

June and July brought the full summer mix: early alarms, hot miles, travel, community rides, gravel adventures, and a lot of team momentum heading toward fall.

The team kept showing up, whether that meant leading rides, sweeping groups, getting back into training, or braving the heat for Chino prep.

Group Rides Are Picking Up

Femmes Friday

Femmes Friday rides are picking up with a great turnout every week. The steady recovery ride plus coffee rhythm has been a bright spot of the summer and a great way to keep the community connected.

Saturday Regroup Rides

Regroup rides on Saturdays are also picking up. Team members have been regularly leading or sweeping the group, helping keep rides organized, welcoming, and steady as more riders join.

A Note On Fueling

Why Fasting Does Not Work Well For Active Women

Lindsay shared this article from Dr. Stacy Sims on fasting and active women. The short version: most fasting advice is based heavily on male physiology, and active women often respond differently because training stress plus low fuel availability can disrupt appetite regulation, hormones, thyroid function, energy, and performance.

The article argues that active women generally do better training in a fed state. Eating before workouts and refueling afterward can support better blood sugar control, appetite regulation, fat metabolism, and overall energy, while fasted training can increase hunger later in the day and may raise the risk of low energy availability over time.

Practical takeaway for the team: hard training needs fuel. For early rides, that does not have to mean a huge meal, but getting in something small, especially protein and/or carbohydrate, can help the body recognize that it is supported before the work starts.

Community Fundraising

A few team members are using their miles to support causes close to them. Consider registering, donating, or joining for training miles where you can.

Jennifer: Bike MS Arizona

Jennifer shared that she is doing Bike MS: Arizona 2026, November 7-8 in Fountain Hills. The ride supports the National MS Society and offers fully supported road routes, with options listed from shorter rides up to longer 75-mile days, plus a trail ride option.

Consider registering to ride, volunteering, or donating to support Jennifer and the larger effort to end multiple sclerosis.

Alex: Great Cycle Challenge

Alex is doing the Great Cycle Challenge in September and is aiming to log 400 miles while raising donations for childhood cancer research.

Consider donating, sharing her page, or helping Alex log some miles during September.

Team News

Caley Is Back On The Bike

Caley's surgery went well, and she is back on the bike. She is easing back into training, or maybe not easing quite so much, since she is already riding a lot.

Team Perks

Lindsay got the team cool new Loopy cases, and they have already been ordered. Thank you, Lindsay, for making that happen for the team.

Caley also secured a deal with Pelli for bike cleaning products. Use code REGROUP for 30% off.

Sending Love To Chelsea

Chelsea had an accident while hiking and broke her ankle. She is also pregnant and due at the end of August, so we are sending her a lot of love, support, and healing energy during an already very full season of life.

Adriana's 40th Birthday Tri

Adriana is turning 40 and celebrating in the most Adriana way possible: with a tri on August 22.

Come swim, bike, run, cheer, hang out, or just be part of the birthday fun. This one deserves a good Regroup turnout.

Contribution Points Are Rolling In

Do not forget to fill out the monthly contribution survey. Team participation has picked up a lot since we started tracking contributions, and it has been great to see everyone showing up, helping out, and representing Regroup in so many ways. Nice job, everyone.

The point system is already showing how many different ways people contribute: community rides, leadership, racing, events, and team promotion all count. Racing is only one part of the picture, and there are plenty of ways to keep moving up.

Help With The Next Newsletter

This newsletter is much better when it includes what everyone is doing, not just the things that make it into one group chat.

Please keep sending photos, ride recaps, race notes, travel updates, birthday reminders, team shoutouts, and anything else worth sharing.

A quick sentence and a photo is plenty. Send newsletter items to Alex anytime.

"The summer miles count twice: once for the fitness, and once for getting out the door before the heat wins."
